[edit] Uatschitchun
Uatschitchun's MMS System :
Livingroom-Hardware (Hermes Barebone): - CPU : Celeron 2.0 Ghz - Memory : 256 MB DDR - Video Output : SIS 65x/M650/740 (onboard) - Audio Output : SIS (onboard) - Control : Multiremote MD41169 (Aldi ;) - TV card: FF-DVB-s TT 1.3 - normal TV + 2* Sony-PSOne-TFT
Software : - Debian Sarge - VDR 1.4.9 Tobi (recompiled) - via FF-DVB - MMS 1.1.0 (Alsaplayer, MPlayer/cxfe) - via SIS's TV-Out
Thx to the 2 little TFTs (1 is placed next to the TV as status-display running graphtft-plugin/MMS, the other one is sitting in the kitchen) I've got several possibilities to run VDR & MMS. The TFTs are connected to TV-Out of the graphic card. I'm able to run 2 outputs at the same time: TV+TFT or TFT+TFT With this setup the following scenarios are possible:
Plain VDR: Running just VDR gives TV to TV-set and graphtft to TFT next to it. It's possible to put TV onto the TFT (fbtv), too ... so I can watch TV on kictchen's TFT while cooking ;)
VDR+MMS: I start MMS from within VDR cause VDR is started at bootup. Cause of the TFT I don't have to switch on TV to use VDR or start MMS. MMS startup does the following: Suspends Graphtft via svdrp-command (MMS does not update the full screen, so it has to be suspended), set's VDR's min-user-activity to '0' to prevent VDR from shutting down while MMS is running, start MMS on X. MMS uses it's own lirc-set so I'm able to control both VDR & MMS individualy. MMS shutdown does these things vice-versa: shutdown MMS, activate Graphtft and set min-user-activity to '180' again (this has to be <> '0' for to make VDR shutdown after wakeup for recording)
As mentioned before, I can use TV+TFT & TFT+TFT. So MMS could go to TV+TFT or to TFT+TFT. Cause of having the IR-Receiver placed central, I'm able to control MMS from living-room and from the kitchen (have a separate little remote in the kitchen to control basic MMS-functions like volume, skip, add, etc.)
Further Hardware
Server running 24/7 - VDR for Recordings & providing second card to living-room (streamdev), Streaming to laptop (xineliboutput), MediaMVP in bedroom - Fileserver - FTP-Server - constant running MMS for to listen to music whenever I want without turning on a system and waiting for it to be booted (separate Amp + conected to living-room's amp => music in the main rooms)
Laptop 1.7 PentiumM - My "workstation" - Running MMS and TV (vdr-sxfe) to watch TV or listen to music inthe garden at grilltime or outdoor-parties ;) via WLAN
I've provided some pictures of the various scenarios:
