[edit] Navigation
[edit] Usage
The premise for this guide is that keyboard navigation is used. If a remote is used instead just replace the keys mentioned with the mappings to your remote (input-lirc).
The basic pattern for the interface is to use Arrow keys for navigation, End for Exit, Space for Command menu and Home for Playlist.
All function that can be mapped in the input-lirc as well as in the input-keyboard are described in this table.
[edit] Philosophy
MMS'philosophy is to always be able to control the audio playback. What this means is that the audio library is seperated from the actual playback of tracks. MMS uses a playlist concept for playback. No matter where you are, you have full control over audio playback. And you can always switch to your playlist for more fine grained control.
[edit] Playlist Menu
Press the HOME key for the current playlist.
Here you can manage your playlist. Move tracks up, down and delete them.
You can save your playlist using the key t and retrieve stored playlists by using the key INS.
[edit] Using Save-Playlist with Remote-Control
As for the searching you'll have to make use of the keys described below (accept, exit, complete)
You'll be able to double define these keys as described here:
[edit] Search Menu
The basic navigation changes when searching. This section describes how to use the search functionality.
Searching is enabled in the audio library, movie, pictures and the audio playlist.
In the search menu the basic navigation keys are replaced with 6 keys described below.
- accept
- exit the search, you found what you where looking for
- exit
- exit the search discarding the results you found
- complete
- complete as much of the search string as possible
- erase
- delete the last character entered
- prev
- previous search result
- next
- next search result
Other than those keys you can use the normal keyboard for entering your search string.
[edit] Using the search menu with a remote control
Searching is a little different with a remote control since you don't have access to the full range of keys directly.
The keys from 0 to 9 represents the letters and numbers, and can be configured in two ways. Setting the variable in the ~/.mms/config to
remote_layout = mobile
you can use the keys like on a mobile phone. Zenslack-Users need this setting, because their remote controles have these layouts.
Setting the variable in the ~/.mms/config to
remote_layout = full_layout
the buttons "1" and "0" are also mapped with letters, so they are more spread over the keys. This can be more convinient.
[edit] Search layout for the keys 0 to 9
- depending on how you configured
remote_layout
in your ~/mms/config, the keymapping for the full_layout looks like this:
and for the mobile layout like this:
Note: The layout has changed since 1.0.8 stable (or 1.0.8-patch-233). See here the old Layout.
[edit] Restrictions
- You can't search for special characters. The only characters you can search with, are the characters you can see on the graphic above.
- There is no over-all search. You always search in the folder you are at.
